Kaitlyn Jay was the first consistent trainer that Sammie had in her riding career. Learning at the Funny Farm on Mercer Island, Kaitlyn showed Samantha the basics of riding, form, 2 Point position, dressage, and the fundamentals of jumping. Kaitlyn took extra time to show Sammie how to clean tack, how to properly groom a horse, and how to clean stalls and to feed horses. Kaitlyn made learning about horses enjoyable, to the point of wanting to go after school just to have the chance to clean stalls, and groom horses. After a year, Sammie was asked to come back to barn for her first job. On Sammie's days off, she was asked to help the younger riders tack up and to groom their horses.
Kaitlyn is an outstanding equestrian with many ribbons and awards. Yet her greatest gifting is her kind, patient and fun spirit that inspires and teaches others about the care and love of horses.
